Breakout is an absurd horror game about running around a facility to fend against or hide from bizarre and grotesque monsters
For Breakout, I didn't have a major part in development, I was behind the AI of one of the last updates to the game
Mono's Domain
Mono's Domain was a new area added to the game as one of the last updates. Mono's Domain was a very subliminal museum styled area players could explore, it contained statues of the character Mono, these would play into Mono's ability to swap places with these statues to reach his victims, you'd never know if danger was just around the corner!
Behind Mono's Domain
Mono wasn't too hard to tackle, making him feel good however took some time
To start off, Mono needed to swap between statues, so we needed to strategically place statues in ways that benefitted Mono, and gave the players no safe areas
After this, we needed to work on the statue swapping ability, this was relatively trivial, we just swapped the transforms of the statue and Mono
Next was just polishing it up a bit, I wrote Mono in a way that made him target the biggest group of players in the map as to get the biggest amount of "kills" and create a split between players
Done and dusted!
